Powermac as a Storage Device

This is a rough propsal.

Can I take a powermac, stick a sata card in add lots of disks (JBOD) and then boot into Target disk mode and use as FW drive (maybe add a FW800 PCI Card)

More advanced maybe use as Raid 5 etc?

And can it be forced to open as Target disk mode everytime?
