Iphone 4 8gb only gives you about 6.4 gb of storage?

I recently got a new iphone 4 8gb, after my old iphone 4 was stolen right before the new year. When I bought my new one, I noticed that all of my music did not fit and overflowed the storage capacity. I deleted a lot of apps and did not have any pictures in the phone yet and still I could not fit all my music in (about 900 songs). My old iphone 4...which was purchased in August and also a 8gb , held all of my music plus a lot more (I also had downloaded the iOS 5 software on this phone too.) I'm wondering why now I only have about 6.4 of storage on this phone??? Contemplating whether I should just get the 16gb for the extra $100 if this can't be resolved..

Your iPhone 4 GB sounds correct in its storage capacity. I doubt that you purchased an 8GB iPhone 4 in August, it was surely 16GB or maybe 32GB. I do not believe the 8GB iPhone 4 were available in August. If I am wrong it does not matter, because you now have an 8GB model. Just be better at picking the media you really use and enjoy, Apps, music etc. and the 8GB will serve you OK.
