Setting up IP Printer on DHCP
I have a Brother MFC-9700 that I use in my home network. I use a wired Linksys router. My network is set up to use DHCP to dynamically assign IP addresses to the various clients. I can get the IP address of my printer and set it up using the Print Utility as an IP Printer, but when the IP address changes--I have to go through the whole process again.
Can I give my printer a static IP address and everything else dynamic? I've tried typing in an address like 10.0.1.99 using the menus on the printer, but then my computer cannot find it. Even if it could, when I restart my printer, the router assigns a new address anyway.
