Mission Control :: Can't assign a mouse button to "Show Desktop" - ANY mouse button!

I use a Razer Deathadder and would like to assign Mouse Button 5 to Show Desktop in Mission Control. I can assign Mouse Button 4 to Mission Control itself. But I cannot assign ANY mouse button to Show Desktop. I can assign mouse buttons (4 or 5) to any of the other functions - Mission Control, Application Windows and Show Dashboard - but not to Show Desktop.

I would have sworn this was fixed in 10.7.2!

Not sure what you are asking.

If Mission Control is up, showing all the desktop spaces, all you have to do is click on the center desktop area to bring that back up or if you have more then one desktop space click on the one you want.

I'm not referring to Mission Control as a feature of Lion but Mission Control as a panel in System Preferences.

Is this what you're referring to?

(Note: it's showing Command and Shift on my screen shot because I was holding those buttons down to take the screen shot.)

Yes. I cannot assign ANY mouse button to "Show Desktop". The same buttons assigned to "Show Desktop" DO work if assigned to other functions (Show Dashboard, Application Windows, etc.)

Some have suggested trashing the com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plistfile, which I've tried but it didn't help.

Actually, let me clarify this a little more. I CAN assign any mouse button to the the Show Desktop action BUT ... clicking it does nothing.

In searching for a way to properly shut off mouse acceleration in Lion I found a solution to this. Using a free application SteerMouse you can reassign the mouse shortcuts in the program and it will work properly.
