My photostream pictures appear in my iphoto under events called Photostream Dec 2011 for example, does this event stay permanently beyond the 30 day photostream rule or is that applicable only to iOS devices, or do I need to move the photos into another event in iphoto or risk losing them.

The Event remains. The photos are deleted from the Stream after 30 days.

Thank you Terence, so just so i am clear in my mind, photostream seems to auto create an event based on new photostream photos for each month which will stay in iphoto without me doing anything, is that correct? Does this happen even if I don't open iphoto for a while?

You are correct, John. The automatically created Event will stay in your iPhoto library, whether you open iPhoto or not, until *you* remove it. (I tested it a few weeks ago and imported the photos also, just to be sure. No import necessary.)

What would happen if I didn't open iPhoto for a couple of months would events still be created from photo stream for the months when iPhoto was not opened or has that opportunity gone for auto events to created for those pictures. Thank you all for your patience with me.
