iPhone 4s lock screen shows time display with constantly 10:46 in the background, faded, being overlapped by current time
and date shows as Friday 14 October, overlapped by current date. Please Help !!!!

Yes, have tried to reboot already.
Haven't tried backing up or restoring. Avoided the 5.0.1 update still as its known to cause network issues.
I agree with AnaMusic. As you already tried rebooting the next step sis to restore from a backup. If that doesn't work you'll need to restore as a new device.
On my iPhone iOS 5.0.1 didn't cause any issues. (iPhone 4)
Was this issue ever resolved - as I have the same problem
Done reboot as new phone which did not resolve the issue

Maybe someone made a screenshot of your homescreen and made it your wallpaper.
sussed earlier today after multiple resets etc
The lock screen was corrupted, changed the lock screen wallpaer and all is fine
