Show Client IDs Instead of MAC Addresses in iOS Airport Utility

In Airport Utility for iOS, I would like to have a list of the connected client IDs rather than their MAC Addresses (see App Store screenshot below for what I'd like to achieve).

This occurs in Airport Utility on my Mac, but not on the iOS app.

If you have other Apple wireless devices and you want them displayed per the example above, you must set up the Client ID name on each separate device.

For example, on an iPhone....

  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Wi-Fi
  • Tap the blue arrow next to the name of the wireless network
  • Tap the Client ID area and type in the name that you want to use for the iPhone

On a Mac computer....

  • Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
  • Open Network
  • Click on AirPort on the left
  • Click Advanced at the lower right
  • Click the TCP/IP tab
  • Type in the name that you want to use in the DHCP Client ID area
