Built-in Camera Issue

This probably has a simple fix and I will feel completely silly, but I have been having a problem with the resolution on the built-in HD camera in applications like Facetime and Photo Booth. My image is extremely dark and blueish, and I can't locate settings anywhere for the camera. I've looked in the places one would expect in System Preferences, and tried to acces settings within the apps, but there seems no way to adjust anything. My MacBook Pro is brand new this Christmas, running OS X Lion. Any advice would be much appreciated.
