powerbook won't start up

when i turn on my g4 powerbook it makes three pulse sounding beeps then the sleep indicator light comes on and flashes four times at around five second intervals.

can anybody help: 17" powerbook g4, 1.67mhz

powerbook g4 Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Beeping sounds mean somethings up with the hardware. Someone here can tell you what 3 beeps mean - I think its memory, but I'n not sure

I'd check the memory is properly seated, if that doesn't work and you have non-original ram or 2 sticks try removing them or swapping oover.

Also, I'd run Apple Hardware Test from your install dvd - hold option as you start up (it says on the disk), click the icon to the right and run the extended test - report any error codes.

Here's a tip if reseating or replacing the memory does not solve your issue...

I had the same problem with my new 17" PowerBook - it turns out there is an issue with a cable running from the LCD to the motherboard and both need to be replaced. Your best bet is to take it in for service.
