iPad serial number

Hello,

is it possible that this site tells that my iPad was made in January 2011, but it came with 5.0.1? I got it today. How to make sure it's not a refurb?

There is no way to determine going only by serial number whether or not an iPad is new or refurbished. From where did you buy this iPad?

Where did you buy it? The box should be maked Refurbished.

Look at this link http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/apple_certified.html

It says

is given a new refurbished part number and serial number.

A new iPad 2 has one of these part numbers. I believe yours is the A1395.

Here's the model numbers of the various iPads.

Look on the back of yours.

iPadWi-Fi(Original) A1219

iPadWi-Fi/3G/A-GPS(Original) A1337

iPad2 (Wi-Fi) A1395

iPad2(Wi-Fi/GSM/A-GPS) A1396 (Verizon)

iPad2(Wi-Fi/CDMA/A-GPS) A1397 (AT&T)

Note that you cannot get a factory-refurbished iPad from anyone other than Apple. Unless you just used the "pass through" link from Amazon to the Apple Store, the "refurbished" iPads sold through Amazon come from private companies and are not refurbished by Apple. You may already be aware of this, but I wanted to make sure.

Regards.

You can see the model number in Settings>General>About>Model. The model number has a two-letter code, a number and some more letters. The last part stands for the country/region. The first letter can be "F" (refurbished), "M" (normal retail), or "P" (personalized / engraved). For example MC605B is the model MC605 and B is for the region.
