No access to project library?

No access to project library?

Query, Aperture 2 suddenly fails to open project library. It suggests it is open but goes nowhere. In force quit it says Aperture not responding, you have to force quit to go anywhere.

What happened between your last successful opening of your current Aperture Library and now?

Did you install or upgrade anything new? (new OS, other applications, other plug-ins)
Did you import anything into Aperture?
Moved the library?

Try to find out if your library or Aperture are the the problem:

Can you create a new Aperture library and does Aperture work well with that? If that is the case, try to repair your Aperture Library: Aperture 2: Troubleshooting Basics: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2945
Or are there faulty settings in your User account? Try to work with Aperture from a different account. If it works well from a different account, remove your Aperture preference file from the user library.

leonieDF Thanks for suggestions,

I had just downloaded some pics from Camera (import all) The little rainbow disk started spinning and continued to do so. The previou import was this morning nothing in between. Library was / is where it always was as far as I can tell. All files are Raw Data.

I have tried downloading Aperture again from original Disk problem the same I cannot access library untill Aperture open can I?

I am a pretty basic user of Macs not into the tekkie side so do not really understand all of your terms.

I have iphoto on machine that still works with old files.

How much is "downloaded some pics from". Can it be that the colored beachball has been spinning because Aperture was busy with raw processing your recent import? Ot you may have imported a corrupted image, that now prevents Aperture to launch, because Aperture cannot process it.

I'd start with the paragraph:

Defer preview generation

If Aperture does not open, it may help to defer creation of previews. In Aperture 1.5.2 or later, press the Shift key immediately after you start Aperture to prevent preview generation for that session. If a damaged image in your library is preventing normal opening, this may allow you to start Aperture.

If that does not help, try:

Perform a Consistency Check on the library

Press and hold the Command and Option keys while you open Aperture. The following dialog should appear:
