Delete an old Apple ID on the iPad & replace with mine

I have my wife's old iPad 1. When I try to purchase something on iTunes (app, song, etc) from the iPad her account ID comes up. So I can't buy it on my account. How do I erase her account

1. Sign out of your wife's ID

2. Reboot

3. Sign in with your own ID

Settings>Store>Apple ID

Sign out of her account and then into your account. Go to Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap the ID and sign out. then tap sign in and sign in with your information.

You can go to Settings > Store and click on her Apple ID, sign out, then sign in your ID. Just remember that none of the apps from your wifes iPad will be able to be updated, because they are forever tied to her ID.
