How do I get my iPhone to sync with iTunes Match.

I am looking for guidance as to music settings in iTunes for my iPhone. I have subscribed to Match and have all my music on iCloud. I have set my iPhone to access Match and am getting the error that I am not currently subscribed and to use iTunes to subscribe. I already am subscribed. How do I get the system to allow me to access my music using match?

You must be signed into the mobile iTunes Store on your iPhone using the same iTunes account ID that you used in iTunes to enable iTunes match. On you iPhone go to Settings > Store and enter the appropriate iTunes account ID. Also see this Apple KB article <http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4914>. If the page does not load at first just reload it.

I think perhaps this page might help you understand how iTunes Match works <http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/>.

With iTunes Match enabled direct syncing with iTunes via USB or Wi Fi is no longer possible. All music management is done direclly on your iPhone. To listen to and download songs simply tap the Music app and start playing the song you want. The music will download to your iPhone as you play it.

On iTunes with my iPhone connected I went to the "Sync Music" page and unchecked this box. This caused a new sync after which I have no music on my phone. The setting say I have Match on and the show all music is on but when I push the music icon the window show "No Music". This is contrary to your suggestion that syncing using the USB connection is no longer possible.

Do you see something similar to this in iTunes with your iPhone connected?:

If you do see this, iTunes Match is not enabled on your iPhone. With iTunes Match enabled you will not see this screen, nor will you be able to directly sync with iTunes via USB or Wi Fi. This is how the service works.

With iTunes Match enabled when opening the Music app on your iPhone it may take several minutes to download the links to your music so you should leave the app open and let it sync up with the servers. It is also a good idea to do this over a Wi Fi connection because it will be generally faster than 3G for this initial sync-up.

Yes, this is exactly what I see. I have disconnected the phone from my computer and rechecked the setting for iTunes Music and see the on button for both Match adn Show all music. When I push on the music icon I see "No Music". I will wait for some time to see if there is a download. it's now 3:06pm and I am on a network.

It is now 4:30pm and no indication of any music. I have rechecked all the setting including the store and all are set as suggested. And much to my dismay when I cheked the music setting it show as being off, ie, no "Match" connection. Also, I might add that have a MacBook Pro and all the music on my iMac shows up on my MacBook.

I have done this many, many times during this interchange without success. I just did it and when I went to the music setting page to turn on the service (entering my account password) I got the error message shown in the attachment saying I do not have a Match account and to go to iTunes to set one up. This is the problem I have been having from the start, i.e., that my iPhone settings will not be recognized. I realize you are doing all that you can to help but we seem to be running in circles chasing the probelm with solutions that do not work. Simply stated is that I have a Match account that on my iMac I have successfully moved all of my music to iCloud and likewise on my MacBook I can see and access the music on iCloud but when trying to set up my iPhone the system just will not accept all of my effort and of most concern is that when setting up my iPhone access I get a message that I do not have an account. How can this be? User uploaded file

Now we need to go back to what account ID are you signed into the mobile iTunes store with on your iPhone. Because this is the root of the problem you are having.

First go to iTunes on your computer, pull down the Store menu and select "sign out." This will turn off iTunes Match and sign you out of the iTunes store. Now, pull down Store > Sign In. Enter your iTunes Store account ID. After that pull down Store > Turn On iTunes Match. It will take a few minutes to reenable so let it do it's thing.

Next on your iPhone go to Settings > Store. Scroll down to Apple ID, tap it, and tap Sign Out. Next tap Sign In and enter exactly the same account ID you used to sign into the iTunes Store on your computer.
