I do not create any partition in boot campt yet. I follow the installation guide by clicking on boot camp in Utility. Then a dialog box inform me to download windows support program. After finishing the download, I can not go on. This different from installing windows 7 in Macbook that I bought 4 years ago where I can follow instructions to partition the hard disk, select size for windows volume, install wondows and drivers with provided driver CDs. However, I have bought new Mac book pro 15 inches last December, there is no drive CD. I think the Mac Windows support software downloaded prior Hard disk partition is the drivers.

I can not go on to install Windows 7 or to partition the hard disk after dowloading Windows Support Software.

As I am not IT specialist, please provide me steps to solve this problem.

Open Boot Camp Assistant and click on the Continue button. Next screen looks like this:

Uncheck the top box since you've already done that. The next screen will direct you on what to do next so follow the instructions. This is all outlined in the documentation you can print from the Boot Camp opening window.

So you are saying the Install or Remove Windows 7 box is grayed out. Have you partitioned the drive on your own using Disk Utility?

Try doing this:

Repair the Hard Drive - Lion

Boot from your Lion Recovery HD. When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

Boot to the Recovery HD:

Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

If you're using Snow Leopard:

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions

Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.

If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

See if this helps at all.

It would help if you would put your hardware and OS information in your forum profile because it's hard to provide help without knowing as much as possible about your system hardware and software.

I use Lion. I follow the given steps to do the repair disk, there is no error. There are two volume in My HD: 1) Mac Book volume and 2) the volume with my name. Is it because of two voumes?

I open Boot Camp Assistant and click on the Continue button again, and the third option (Install or Remove Windows 7) appears to be dissable or can not click. So what should I do?

Assuming the first volume is your startup volume:

Boot to the Recovery HD:

Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

When the main menu appears select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the main device entry then click on the Partition tab in the main window. Select the second partition (the bottom one) by clicking in the second space then click on the Delete [-] button. You should now have a single volume with a lot of gray space below it. Sort of like this:

Click on the sizing gadget and drag as far down as it will go. Click on the Apply button. You should now have a single volume on the drive. Restart the computer.

You should be able to now use Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows volume then install Windows. You will need a legal, bootable Windows 7 installer DVD.
