I can't copy and paste anything anywhere. not in a word doc, not in an email, nothing. I am also not able to delete files can you tell me what how to fix this. any suggetsions. I am not very computer savy so you may have to give directions for dummies.

My guess is that you have a permissions issue. Boot from your install disk (hod C key at boot with install disk in drive). Select your install language, then from the menubar select Utilities/Disk Utility and run the Disk repair and permissions repair. Then reboot and see if the problem is solved.
what do you mean by install disk in drive. are you refering to a disk that came iwth my Mac?
Try a Permissions Repair, followed by a Restart...
To test or repair disk permissions:
Go to your Utilities Folder and open Disc Utility
1) In Disk Utility, on the Left Side Column, select the disk you want to check.
2) Click First Aid.
3) Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions.
Wait until it is Completed...
Then, Click Repair Disk Permissions to repair permissions.
Wait until it is Completed...
5) Quit Disc Utility and Restart your Computer

As long as the Report states ‘Permissions Repair Complete’ all should be fine...

You are correct. Put the install disk in the drive, shut down, then boot holding the C key.
