Usually I use Allan's last solution, I go onto my Mac and find out what the saved password was for the router. I don't know of a way to do that from an iPhone or Windows, although I would think there would be a way in Windows.

The router might display the password somewhere in its administrative pages, but it might just say •••••••••.

Are you trying to connect to your own wifi router? If so, you should have access to the router setup program to be able to change the password as needed. If you are trying to access someone elses router, you may have to ask them. I have an Apple airport router and I can go into the airport utility program to change the password if needed.

It is usually written on your router.., usually it is called a WEP Key.

Not if it's a newer router. WEP is unsecure and outdated. The current standard is WPA.

Some routers might label it differently, though. If you see these on the bottom of your router, here's what they mean:

WAP = Wireless Access Point (the router itself)

WPA = Wi-Fi Protected Access (current wifi security standard for home use)

WEP = Wired Equivalent Privacy (deprecated, so avoid)

And of course the password might be different if you or someone else changed it from what's on the bottom of the router.
