no ios template option in xcode 4?

User uploaded file

So as you see in the picture, I'm getting no iOS templates option when I launch Xcode 4.0.2, which I installed via the applications cd came with my iMac intel i7(running 10.6.8)

I tried restarting the mac, reinstalling xcode yet nothing worked. I still don't have the iOS option so I'm unable to work on iOS apps.

I'm pretty new to Xcode and all this stuff, so any help is needed and appreciated from you people.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that helpful answer. It helped me to realise that I was not registered for the dev program, now I am.

However, when I was led to app store to download Xcode 4.2, it says Xcode 4.2 is for "lion only". Also, it directs me to download Xcode 3 for snow leopard. Now that gets me confused as I have Xcode 4.0.2 already came with snow leopard install disc.

Sorry for being a silly but I guess I need some help here with the download.

Thanks.

Apparently something's wrong my status.

I've seen that page while I was following other links to download, and I actually clicked the "Download Xcode" button(blue one) and it directs me here when I click it: http://developer.apple.com/xcode/

Just in case, I'm putting an image so you see what I see on that page:

I'm %100 sure that I was registered for the iOS dev program. I've received that confirmation e-mail tells me that I was registered successfully.

I've tried those two links too. I don't want to get a paid membership and I tried "tools and languages documentation" one as well, which got me here: http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#recipes/xcode_help-documentation_prefere nces/DownloadingandInstallingXcodeComponents/DownloadingandInstallingXcodeCompon ents.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40010349-CH2-SW1

Now the strange thing is, when I got Xcode preferences, there is just documentation tab next to key bindings tab(as a main tab). So I don't have any downloads tab next to key bindings tab, nor do I have a components sub-tab.

I don't have to pay anywhere just to be able to download Xcode 4(instead of Xcode 3) and start learning how to code apps and become an iOS dev, do I?

Thank you for your patience and help so far. And as I type this, some idea just popped in my mind. Do you think I should download Xcode 3 and try to update it the way it shows in the link I gave right up there, in the beginning of this post?

If you want to play with iOS, simply use Mac App Store/Lion and download Xcode 4.2.1 there.

If you intend to work with iOS, the vast amount of resources are part of the paid program behind a required NDA and logon to the iOS Dev Center.

Or is it your intention to rely on those that have paid and are currently in a program...

Looks so. When I go to here(http://developer.apple.com/technologies/ios5/) and click "Get Started" and it simply says I'm not authorized to access that content.

(error page: http://developer.apple.com/devcenter/ios/unauthorized/)

I'm currently downloading Xcode 3 that I mentioned before, I'll see if something else happens. If does not, that will certainly mean you have to pay if you want it running on snow leopard.

Hopefully this topic would be helpful for other starters, when/if they face this kind of issue.

Thank you baltwo and and K T, for your helpful answers and time.
