my ipod touch wont restore!!!

i restored my ipod because the touch screen stopped working. however, halfway through the restore, it stopped and a box came up saying it could not complete because of 'unknown error (-9809). i tried opening it in recovery mode but when i restored it again, the same thing happened!! does anyone know what i can do?
