itunes won't open

My itunes no longer launches. I'm running Windows 7. I have tried the following:

Upgraded to latest itunes

Upgraded Quicktime player

Tried to launch with itunes safe mode

Tried to hold down shift key to launch

Tried to launch under Windows safe mode

Moved the existing itunes folder to a saved location.

None of this will enable me to open itunes. I also get no errors.

Any ideas?

Thanks

iTunes-OTHER, Windows 7

1. First check if this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.

Close your iTunes.

Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.

Now open itunes and see if it is working?

If that works, to prevent having to do the same process everytime you restart Windows, go to. START button, type in

MSCONFIG

Hit ENTER

Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.

Restart Windows.

2. If that fails, refer to following article to remove SC Info.lib file:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363

3. If that fails, repair your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

Try the following steps:

1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:

it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.

Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:

iTunes

  1. QuickTime
  2. Apple Software Update
  3. Apple Mobile Device Support
  4. Bonjour
  5. Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components

3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

Hmm! Can you scan your computer for possible Windows system file corruption.

Go to command prompt (START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES right mouse click "command prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator"

type in

sfc /scannow

let Windows fix any system files that need to be repaired.

Restart the computer if it did actually repair any files.

You may also want to check if your system has malware but you must do it in Windows Safe Mode.

I did the sfc scan and it reported that it found some problems it could not fix. I looked at the log but did not recognize any itunes or related files. I also did a virus scan using 2 different packages - nothing found.

I ran itunes using procmon to see if I could tell why it's crashing. There were no obvious errors, but I'm no procmon expert. itunes exits with status -1073741819

According to the number, it looks like a Sasser Worm. Did you SCAN your system in Windows safe mode?

Anyway, please go to Microsoft website to download and install Worm removal tool:

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/search.aspx?q=sasser%20worm%20removal%20too l

Make sure you download a 32bit or 64bit version according to your operating system. Run and see if it helps.

Not so fast. Sometimes the Malware is smart enough to attach itself to your Antivirus program making it undetectable.

Just to make sure your system is totally clean, can you log in Windows "Safe mode with networking", then go to this link to download free version of Malwarebyte.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

Install and update immediately. Perform full SCAN in Safe mode, and let Malwarebyte remove malware if indeed they find any. Then restart to regular windows to let Malwarebyte remove traces in the registry.
