Trying to connect my iPhone to my iPad and they can't find each other. They just keep searching and find every other Bluetooth device in the house but can't find any apple device. Why?
Why can I pick up my wife's Nokia and my daughters phone as well but not any Apple device.?

Why do you want to connect between iPhone and iPad using BT?
BT is for connecting speakers, ear phones etc. they don't have file transfer profile. Use iCloud.

Edit: The important part being that apps can connect to eachother, but not the devices themselves.

I want to transfer pictures over Bluetooth and I would also like to connect my iPod and transfer file from there. I could transfer music file and anything I wanted through Bluetooth with other phones but not with an iPhone ?
Simply put: you can't. Apple devices don't allow BT file transfer. "Other phones" do.
Ok. Just thought I was missing something by not being able to connect the devices.
There are some apps that will allow you to transfer pictures over BT between an iPhone and an iPad. They are, however, gruesomely slow. I much prefer using the Camera Connection Kit.
I had a similar problem until:
Settings- cellular - personal hotspot..
This was to connect iPhone 4 to iPad2
That easy! It worked for me battery chargers connected and all.
Hope this helps anyone still having trouble.

That does not, however, allow you to transfer photos over BT, which, 2 years ago, was the question.
Well I'm sorry but the question I answered was why can't I connect my iPhone to my ipad. 2 years later or not it may or may not help someone else!

I find that the best way to clean corrosion off of a car's battery terminals is to use a carbonated soda, such as Coca-Cola, and a wire brush. Be sure to remove the terminal connectors first, of course!

The only useful post/response in this thread. Thank you. I was also wondering how to connect this way. Somewhere in Apple instructions it says to connect via Bluetooth while tethering if wifi is not working. The key is remembering after the fact that it only works when the Personal Hotspot feature is activated. Remembering what works when what is activated and when it's not activated get's to be a long list of rarely used information.
