why do i have a black screen
my macbook pro has a black screen and will not fire up
i can hear it but nothing else appears - would someone tell me what is wrong?

Do you have a unibody Macbook Pro with a black keyboard, or one of the earlier MBPs with a silver keyboard? If it's the later, it may have the problem described in the article linked below and, if it does, it may still just barely be eligible for a free repair.
