If you used two different AppleID for Mac and iPad, they cannot sync with each other)))

I think, you can try to transfer the data from one AppleID to another. First you will need to create the export files of your Cal and Adressbook on Mac, then switch to your second AppleID on your Mac (use the iCloud settings in System Settings). I suppose, during the installation you will have the opportunity to merge data, you have on your Mac with the new one from the iCloud with the new ID. If not, you can make the import of your data from the files, which you've created recently))) Good luck!

I think the problem lies in the fact that iOS devices must 'create' and icloud account instead of simply binding to one. Apple needs to fix this.

Nonsense. Once an iCloud account is created any of your devices can sign into it and sync its data. The OP's problem is that he has two separate accounts, with each device signed into a different one, so obviously they aren't going to sync. The previous poster's solution (of last January) is correct.

Nonsense. I have the same problem. An iOS device one can only Create an iCloud email address, not bind to one. I just got off the line with Apple support and they have file a bug report.

What do you mean by 'bind to one'? The process is to open Settings>iCloud and sign in with the Apple ID you are using to access your iCloud account on another device (this is not your iCloud address unless you are a migratee from MobileMe) and then enable Mail and other data types. This works for most people (or believe me, we'd have heard about it). If you are doing this and it's not working then you have a specific problem on your device, which certainly needs addressing, but it's not generic.

I migrated from a paid MobileMe account. Apple reserved an email address in the iCloud domain that was equivalent to the one I had in MobileMe. By doing so, my ability to enable notes and email was effectively blocked, for the former MobileMe account, because there was no option other than 'creating' a new iCloud email address when enabling notes or email for iCloud. Instead I created a new iCloud account, but alas, it did not come with email. I could not disassociate my email from the old Mobile Me / complimentary iCloud account. So, instead of having the email MyFirstName.MyLastName@iCloud.com like I had for my me.com service, I have to come up with something else. So, the complimentary iCloud Apple started for me will go unused... along with the AppleID that was created for that account.

It would be nice if I could close the unused iCloud account, delete the unused AppleID and move the desired iCloud email address to the iCloud account I use, which is associated with my long time AppleID. Then it would be nice to be able use that iCloud email address to enable iCloud notes and email.

Apple doesn't allow iCloud accounts to be deleted, only disabled. They do not allow an email address, once assigned to an iCloud account to be changed (even if they assign the account _for_ the user). They do not allow an iCloud account to change AppleID's. They do not allow notes or email to be enabled without _creating_ an iCloud address. It is _nonsense_ . :-)

This is all very bizarre. When you migrated from MobileMe you should have been able to sign into System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud with the ex-MobileMe address; on enabling Mail you then have that address to use, as well as it being the ID. When signed in, and checking 'Mail' in the checklist, it should simple set your Mail application up with the details of the email account, which once your had migrated was already active (you would have been able to set the email up manually on a pre-Lion computer, for example, which is exactly what I did). So you wouldn't be enabling email, simply automatically configuring the Mail app.

Of course if you then create a new iCloud account you can't move the ex-MobileMe address to it as that is an ID it its own right, so you would effectively be merging accounts, which isn't possible.

You may have already been walked through this by Apple, but I would suggest you try this:

Firstly, sign out of iCloud on all your devices. Your data will be removed from them but not from the server.

As a check, go to http://icloud.com , sign in with your ex-MobileMe address, and confirm that you can access your email there.

Now on your Mac go to System Preferences>iCloud and sign in with that address. Check Mail in the list, Go to the Mail application and confirm that you have an iCloud account there and that the settings are correct. If there is mail on the server it should be visible.

Now on your phone, go to Settings>iCloud and, again, sign in with the ex-MobileMe address and enable Mail in the list. Check the Mail app.

If you go through all this and it doesn't work, at what point does it fall over, and what sort of error message do you get?

Since I have switched to iCloud My calendar and address book do not synchronize anymore between my macbookpro and my iPhone why?
