why does my new iphone 4s always shuffle songs?

I got a new iPhone 4s on saturday, synced it to my iMac with the data from my old iPhone 3g except for apps and music.

later that day downloaded an album straight from iTunes right to the iPhone and as yet not synced it back with my iMac.

Thing is, when I play the album it automatically shuffles the tracks, no matter what I do and there is no option to turn shuffle off. Believe me I've looked.

Is this a know issue? its driving me nuts, I just wanna listen to the album how it was meant to be heard.
