How do I mount a sparse image file from a time machine backup??

The finder window displays the sparseimage file but when I try to open it [which I assume means mounting it, in reality] I am told to use the mounting utility, but see no way to access said utility from within Time Machine.

This appears to be a catch 22. Am I missing something?

Sorry, SP. Perhaps I was unclear. I am using the Time Machine interface, as you suggest, and I was actually refering to the Finder-like presentation within Time Machine.

When I try to open the sparseimage file from within Time Machine's Finder-like display, I get a message which tells me to use the mounting utility which does not appear to be available within TM, unless I am missing something.

That's clearer, I hope.
