iTunes only plays mpeg4 not QuickTime movies?

So does the recent version of iTunes only play mpeg4?

I had a lot of vids in my iTunes library that used to play fine and now they won't. I hear audio but video is black.

Any file that's says Quicktime movie in the "Kind" column won't play, only vids that have MPEG-4 in the "Kind" column will play.

This didn't used to be the case.

Also there is no option to make and iPad version or anything.

Yes, I know i can convert them in many different ways (i'm a video pro), but that defeats the purpose.

any one know if this is a removed functionality?

Thanks in advance
