share imovie9 unexpectedly quits

i have been able to share movies until tonight.

the difference is the video came from an iphone app (VideoZoom2)

[camera app that came with iphone worked fine too]

have tried several formats to share to (youtube, export movie)

and also tried lower size share 480 x 272

clip codes 568 x 320 (current & actual size)

16 bit integer

fps 29.97

39.8 MB

data rate: 11.84

rebooted machine - still same issue

lots of posts about this, but none have helped yet.
