You can set it as the wallpaper on your iPad, take a screenshot of it (by pressing sleep/wake and home at the same time). It will go into your camera roll. Then you sync it to iPhoto (or whatever you use) on your computer and work with it from there.
That's true, but if you're going to Photoshop it anyway, you might as well take a screenshot and edit the extraneous stuff out using Photoshop! I don't think you're going to be able to find the image anywhere else. Apple doesn't make them available.
The most unobstructed view of the wallpaper you'll get is by going into Settings>Brightness & Wallpaper>Wallpaper>Wallpaper (yes, I meant to type it that many times), then select the raindrops image. You'll see the whole image with just a small bar blocking the very top of the screen

How did you do that, stevejobsfan0123?
Quite simple, really 😉
I took a screenshot of the wallpaper as it appears in the Wallpapers menu in Settings, then I went to the Photos app and enlarged it so the bar at the top would not appear. Then I took a screenshot of the enlarged version.

Oh, yes...otherwise known as cropping. That's exactly what I was suggesting the OP to do. You do lose the top 1/2-inch of the image, though.
is it possible to not chop off the edges though, at times im a bit OCD and would like to have the bubbles in the same place as the one on the home screen and lock screen (i keep the original for the home and edited one for the lock) and want to keep the 'greenish' sruff in the same place cos it gives colour to the background
ah since the aspect ratio ios maintained the whole edge would bechopped (on all sides), also what i dont understand is that the image is stil 1024x768 and if its cropped and the ipad screen size is the same as that, what happened
so its noticably blurry, is it possible to have the original one? i know if you jailbreak you can use a ipad or iphone file browser and go to /User/mobile/stash/Wallpapers.someletters/iPad but i have an ipad 2 so i cant jailbreak yet
I really don't think what you want is possible. There is no way to get that wallpaper image in its full size without any obstructions. The only way is for somebody to photoshop it, and it would be very difficult to get it to look exactly like the original without any parts cropped out.
There is no situation I can think of that nothing will get in the way of the screenshot
ipad not iphone
well not literally photoshop, just edit with iphoto and ms powerpoint and stuff
