Can text boxes be linked from one slide to another?

If you're wondering whatever for. I use Keynote as a teleprompter for some videos. Works well enough but you have to take your text and segment it slide to slide which makes on the fly editing a pain. I would like to make a pile of slides with text boxes and paste the dialog in the first slide and have it pass from one slide to the next. Can it be done? Any other suggestions if not?
