Screen is Black on Startup until Login Screen (2011 Model)

Hey Guys,

I got a MacBook Air 13" (2011) model and managed to install bootcamp etc and it was all working good for a month.

Now my MacBook starts up with a black screen every time, all functions work for bootcamp (holding down option key), there is a sound on startup, but the screen stays black until the login screen for Mac or the startup logo for windows.

I tried a few of the solutions that Apple has posted but none of them seem to work. Anyone got any idea?

Have you tried to select the mac from the windows side as the start up hard drive?

Thanks Kathy, I have tried this. Currently my MacBook starts up in Mac OS X unless I hit the option key during the blackscreen and navigate blindly on the screen.

I think it might be a hardware error so might get Apple to check it out 🙂.

FiveSe7en, I had this problem too on my MacBook Pro, and I did a PRAM reset (hold option-command-p-r keys at boot until you hear the startup chime twice). That fixed it for me.
