Or a Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), & try setting the rez in the Displays pref pane.

No change, screen remains blank & the power light flashes 3 times waits then flashes 3 times again

If it's LCD, use a flashlight & rotating your view around to see if there's a faint desktop there.

There is no faint desktop either, do you think it's the monitor only or should I take the whole thing in for checking
Doesn't say much about the surge protection, wasn't cheap either!

Was there anything else connected to the Monitor or Computer that wasn't on Surge protection, like USB, Firewire, Ethernet?
