We have just had a power cut, my power mac is surge protected.
The problem is the hd monitor won't come on, the small light on the bottom right frame of the screen slowly flashes, but the screen stays blank
I have rebooted, reconnected everything and checked that the power surge protected extension still works

Or a Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), & try setting the rez in the Displays pref pane.

Tried the safe boot, turning off power to the mac then on again whilst holding down the shift key
No change, screen remains blank & the power light flashes 3 times waits then flashes 3 times again
Just followed the instructions in the link for the PRAM reset, no joy :-(
Do you still have AppleCare on it, I think it has a hardware fault.
If it's LCD, use a flashlight & rotating your view around to see if there's a faint desktop there.
Not anymore, it's about 3 and a half years old
There is no faint desktop either, do you think it's the monitor only or should I take the whole thing in for checking
Doesn't say much about the surge protection, wasn't cheap either!

I guess I'd pack up the Computer in case the Monitor works.
Was there anything else connected to the Monitor or Computer that wasn't on Surge protection, like USB, Firewire, Ethernet?
