If you have already purchased the disk version, but don't want to use Remote Disc or don't have an external DVD drive, then just use the activation code to activate a downloaded trial MS Office for Mac from the MS website.

The trial download is identical to the disk you buy. Both are trial versions that only need the activation code to make it permanently usable.

Just to be clear, Office 2010 is for Windows. Office 2011 is for Mac. If you actually are trying to install Office 2010, you'll need to have installed Windows on your Mac either through Boot Camp or in a virtual machine.
