itunes cannot locate or access the itunes64.msi file to update

Are you having trouble with a missing itunes64.msi?
Yes I currently am. I have not been able to update my iTunes for about 6 months now. And my iTunes won't even recognize my 4th gen iTouch when I plug it into my version of iTunes I am stuck with now. So yeah, that's quite a problem for me.
Okay ... in your original post you linked to a description of using the Windows Installer CleanUp utility to remove iTunes installation configuration information. Did something not go right with that? If so, can you describe what the trouble was?
I was unable to remove the iTunes installation configuration via the instructions in the original post. I don't know if the webpage is no longer active for the download or what.
Okay. Let's try newer versions of the instructions, then.
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
When I double clicked the msicuu2.exe I got the following error "Script: C:\Users\Blake\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP000.TMP\StartMsi.vbs"
I think I got it to work. I had to run as admin. to bypass the error. I sincerely appreciate your help b noir. Thank you very much, you really helped me out big time!!!
Wish you the best,
🙂 You're welcome. Glad you're up and running again.
Unfortunatly another issue has come up. I was able to update my iPod and iTunes. But now my iTunes doesn't want to recognize my iTouch when I try to plug it in. It give me the following error, "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occued (0xE8000065) I know my iPod is a touch but in the error it says iPhone. Don't know why.
I'd first try the following article:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Unknown error containing '0xE' when connecting to a Windows PC
Since I followed your instructions and downloaded the program to delete my old iTunes from MajorGeek, and I installed the newest version of iTunes, would this affect why my computer and iTunes doesn't recognize my iTouch?
Not in my experience of troubleshooting 0xE8000065s.
Still, there's no harm in being cautious of the advice you're getting from me. (You don't know me from a bar of soap, after all.) If anyone else would care to give a second opinion, I'd be obliged.
It is not that I don't trust you at all, hahhah, you helped me out earlier with iTunes not updating. So I hopee my question didn't imply anything negative towards you in any way.
Wow, thanks a bunchy! You practically saved my evening 😉
