Why is iCloud not compatible with OS10.6?

SINCE iCLOUD IS PROGRAMMED TO REPLACE MOBILE ME THIS YEAR, WHY MUST APPLE USERS UPGRADE TO OS 7 TO CONFORM TO APPLE STANDARDS? WHY THEN CANNOT OS6, 5, 4, ETC USE iCLOUD?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

There are plenty of other cloud services you could use.

It should be obvious why Apple requires the upgrade. Every software developer adds desirable features and makes you pay for the upgrade.

Just like allowing Siri on the iPhone 4s only when it has been proven that it runs just fine on an iPhone 4: if you want the shiny new thing, you have to pay for it with the upgrade fee.

Apple isn't in the business of giving this stuff away for free. ...actually, the fact that you get iCloud for a one-time 29.95 upgrade fee is pretty remarkable.

Anyway, as I said, there are lots of cloud services. Some free, some not. Try Gmail (email in the cloud), Google docs (documents and data), Google music, etc. etc. Amazon has a cloud service. There are others.
