I'm not sure if I have I Mac (intel) or I Mac (PPC). So I'll put this in both forums.
I have a MacIntosh desktop. The OS is Mac OS X Snow Leopard version 10.6.8. I wonder, can I install Microsoft Windows Office Excel 2010? I need to for a class I'm taking. If so, what should I do?

There is a version of Microsoft Office made especially for Mac computers and you could always buy that.
Since you're running Mac OS X 10.6.8, you have an Intel Mac. You can install Microsoft Office for Windows, but if you don't have a copy of Windows already, it's easier and cheaper to purchase the Mac OS X version of it or use a product such as OpenOffice instead.

OK, but if I purchase the Mac OS X version of Excel will it be the same version that is used in my classroom? They use a PC and they are using Microsoft Office Excel 2010. I assume I need to use the same version of Excel that they use, if I want to do the homework and keep up with them and the book we are using.
Also, I really don't want to download the Windows operating system (OS) into my Apple computer, too afraid of messing things up. I just wanted the Excel 2010 software program. Please advise.
I belive Microsoft Office for Mac still saves files/documents in the same format that Microsoft Office for Windows does so you should be fine.
