Outlook Hotmail Connector / iMail

Hi,

I have just bought a brand new macbook pro. I was previously using windows 7 with office 2010. Using the outlook hotmail connector i could connect to hotmail and view all my mail folders. With the mac imail.app it is not possible to view folders using POP, only the inbox and the sent items. I paid for Mac Office 2011 with Outlook only to find there is no outlook hotmail connector for the mac! Nightmare!

Otherthan using the hotmail website is there a way to view hotmail in imail or outlook with folders?

Thanks,

Adrian

There is not, except on an iPad/Pod/Phone.

As Hotmail and Outlook are both Microsoft products, shame on them, not Apple.

You might wish to look at the MS Office:Mac forums to see if someone there has come up with a workabout:

I think you meant to reply to the OP there Allan, I do not use Hotmail.

I don't use Hotmail - I use Gmail - but I do use Outlook with Gmail as an IMAP account. If you switch to IMAP, I believe that all of your folders will migrate from the Hotmail server - that's what happened to me when I changed from POP to IMAP. I also have another, private IMAP account and all my folders from there are integrated under a different account.

Try IMAP - it might solve your problems (might not, I don't know anything about Hotmail...).

If all else fails, take your problem to the Mac for Office Outlook forum - the folks there are very nice and can guide you - step-by-step - on how to set up your Hotmail account for IMAP. And check out this MS tech tip - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2352963.

Good luck,

Clinton

shame on them not apple? what?? cause its Microsofts responsibility to create software for apple? shame on apple for not using mapi capabilities with their own email program, shame on apple for nor making an email program that actually is worth using. ugg sorry, I don't mean to rant but really all these big box companies suck, god forbid any on of them make it completely easy to use one anothers eco system.

Outlook for MAC 2011 with hotmail.

Well, the answer is to turn off two step verification in outlook or hotmail in your microsoft settings. After several hours of repeating painful attempts to congiure Outlook and Mac mail to work, I called Microsoft support. A remote support Outlook 2011 for Mac support remoted into my computer and I watched him cursor around my Mac for about 45 minutes repating the things that I had done with no luck. He put me on hold and stepped away for a few minutes and came back and un-did two step vericiation in my Microsoft online account. Then Hotmail worked with Outlook. Then he made Hotmail work with Mac mail too!

Hope this helps. CT
