updating software help?

Hi!

I'm trying to update my iphone software, but my phone won't connect to my itunes because the software is out of date. I now can't update my itunes because I need at least os x 10.5. I have tried to find software to help me jump through all these hoops, but am now realizing that maybe I don't have enough memory because this computer is just too old? I apparently don't know crap about macs(it was a hand me down) and I'm really at a loss here and would appreciate any feedback, even if it is to take this thing out and give it a proper burial. Here are the specs for my compy:

Machine Name:iMac
Machine Model:PowerMac6,1
CPU Type:PowerPC G4 (3.3)
Number Of CPUs:1
CPU Speed:1 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU):256 KB
