how can i get more video ram in my mac mini 2011?

i have a mac mini 2.3 GHz 2011 and i was wondering how i could get more video ram ?

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

You can't upgrade the VRAM only RAM (which will give you a decent speed bump)

The model you have has the integrated Intel HD3000 graphics

which shares system memory. The amount of video memory

is set based on system memory. If you upgrade to 8 gig of

system memory, you will end up with 512 meg of video memory.

No, I do not think you have a defective unit... unless we both have defective units, just joking 🙂


I have investigated the same poor graphics performance and found that it is a problem with very poor HD3000 drivers for OS X. In my unit the driver does even refure to load by default and the very basic graphic driver for i5, the SNB frame buffer, is doing the whole work.
