i clicked the little icon next to it by accident and now i cant get it back! i cant see either my ipad or iphone when i plug them in...please help! 😕

Depending on which version of iTunes you are on, click on the disclosure triangle in front of the Devices label, or click on the Show label to the right of the Devices list, when you mouse-over Devices.
Restart your computer, launch your iTunes and plug in your devuce again.
Ive tried re-installing itunes and have re-booted twice but still can see it. It does make a noise when i plug it and and it does charge so the USB and wire is working ok.

i can only see these headings on the left hand side

STORE
GENIUS
PLAYLISTS
but no device heading ??

Devices should be listed between Store and Genius. Unplug your iPhone and iPod, then plug them in again. If that doesn't make them appear, go thru these troubleshooting steps for unrecognized devices:
