HP c7200 Series driver

Hi,

So I have an HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-one printer - not working on Mac OS X 10.7. On HPs website it states that this C7200 series is supported through the standard Apple Software Update. Therefore there is no available driver software through the HP site.

(I have run the latest software updates as of 19th Jan 2012)

The printer is still not working.

I have removed and re-added said printer prompting the following message:

Setting up 'Photosmart C7200 series [FC98DC]...'

Software for this printer is available from Apple.

Would you like to download and install it?

So I click Download & Install.

A progress bar appears stating 'Finding software...' for a few minutes before this message appears:

'The software for this printer is currently unavailable.

Please contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software.'

Which is a lovely suggestion if HP didn't ping me back to Apple.

Does anyone have a link to this fabled Driver that I can use?

Many thanks.

When the printer is selected and the window is showing "Finding software", is there an option to stop this searching so that you can manually look for the printer?

If not, some HP owners have had success with trashing the HP folder, located in Mac HD > Library > Printers. With the folder trashed, empty the trash and restart the Mac. Then try adding the printer again (try this before running the v2.8 installer again)

I'm having the same problem. I accidentally removed the C2780 printer, and now when I try to re-add it, I get the same "The software for this printer is currently unavailable" message. Deleting the hp folder out of /Library/Printers/ caused a new version to be downloaded, but then I get the same message. Very frustrating.

What's weirder is that the /Library/Printers/hp/Utilities/HP Utility application works fine, and can connect and communicate with my printer. Fortunately, my wife's iBook can still talk to the printer, so I was able to print that way... but I'd still like to be able to print directly.
