Does anybody know if USB 3.0 is in the works for MAC Pro Tower models? I have a mid 2010 and do photography work on it. The speed from 3.0 would be very beneficial.

You can alredy get a USB 3 PCIe card that will work in a Mac Pro.

I doubt we'll see much USB 3.0 stuff from Apple as they are pushing Thunderbolt for high speed devices.

Is this something that I can install? How can I tell if I have room in My MAC pro tower for this to fit. I have all HD bays filled, have 16 gig of RAM, and two Disk Drives.
I have heard that Apple will be doing the Thunderbolt thing, but I don't know when. I do a lot of photography, and downloading from USB 3.0 thumb drives would save me a lot of time, which is why I am considering it.

Look inside and specss, you have 3 open PCI slots (4th is your video card)
Should have a free PCIe slot to put a USB 3.0 expansion card in. I would not expect a Thunderbolt card that you could add any time soon. Yes you could go with a SATA card with an external port, but it sounds like your needs would be better met by a card like the one I linked.
I think you should forget about the Lacie PCI USB 3.0 card; it will only work with Lacie products; you have to drill down to find this.
So if you want a generally usable USB 3.0 port try the Sonnet Allegro USB 3.0 PCIe card; get it from OWC in the States
