How do I make more room on my iCloud?

My iPhone will not backup at night because my iCloud is too full. How do I make more room in my iCloud? I have deleted all shows I have downloaded and watched, and they are still showing up and only give me the option to "hide" not "delete" is there anyway to make more room in my iCloud?
