Re-install Office Mac 2011, now Outlook gives errors

Hi, recently installed Office Mac 2011 onto new Macbook Air. All went well with Word, Excel, PowerP. Had issues with Outlook connection to our POP3 mail but was resolved (password related) but unfortunately only receive email, calendar entries from point of "successfull" connection of Outlook - could not get all other (history) emails in current INBOX to download

A recommendation was to re-install Office Mac 2011, which I did successfully. When now trying to open OUTLOOK, get error: "This identity cannot be opened with this version of Outlook"

I have download all the latest patches as well, to no avail - same error

ANY ADVICE?

Got a solution (most likely my ignorance!)

Click& hold OPTION button together with click OUTLOOK, delete the "identity" in the list - resolved the problem (to get into Outlook)

Then, I picked up that the users laptop (Windows) had a setting which said: "do NOT keep a copy of the email on the server" - this was why I only saw NEW emails coming through to the Outlook on the MAC

I have now imported the .PST into the Mac Outlook and all good!
