Can I change the default "Save As" options?

When I have finished a document and press "Save As" the defalt is the Template name and the Folder is "My Templates" so i often end up saving a document as a template - very annoying? Is there anyway I can change the setting so that the default folder is a document folder not a template Folder?

I hope this makes sense!!

Hi Thanks for your answer - it seems as if they are the defalts for the "Save As" on my computer. I open the document from the "New from Template Chooser..." pick one of my own templates and when I want to save it using "Save As" gives me the defaults as mentioned before. Any help would be much appreciated.

Operating system: OSX 10.6.8 (I had to ask my son!)

Pages: 4.1

I think I know what is happening. In the Finder, I put a .pages document in the My Templates folder. It showed up in the Template Chooser and when I tried "Save As…" the dialog came up as you said.

That is because it is not a template. A template uses the .template extension, not .pages. Normally, templates are created by using the "Save as Template…" menu command, but they can also be created in the Finder by renaming from <something>.pages to <something>.template.

A true template will open as "Untitled" and its "Save As…" dialog will look similar to the one in Fruhulda's screenshot.
