WindowShade not working on 10.6

I have 2 laptops with registered copies of WindowShade (from Unsanity). The older MacBook Pro has Snow Leopard and runs WindowShade just fine. I just updated a newer MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard and installed WS and it won't work at all. It IS enabled and my Appearance system preference has the correct setting checked, per the Read Me file for WS.

I have logged out and back in, no go; I've restarted the laptop, no go. Application Enhancer says it is fully updated. Why would it work on one laptop, but not the other, when they're both running the same OS with the same settings?

I truly miss the ability to use WindowShade! Any advice? Thanks very much!

Unsaity haxies are listed as being not compatable with Lion.

My advise is tgnore them until Unsanity is able to fix them so thay work on Lion which could be a long time.

True, but as my post indicates, I'm not using Lion. I'm using Snow Leopard.

When you said newer Mac, I failed to notice that.

This newer Mac isn't one that you downgraded to Snow Leopard is it?

The newer Mac was running OS 10.5 until I upgraded it just before Xmas to 10.6. No downgrade.

I've looked through Unsanity's support to no avail.

The point I was trying to make was to ask them. The only other thing to do is uninstall it and APE, then reinstall. Works here w/o issues.

Thank you for all of your replies!

I contacted their support team 2 weeks ago - no answer.

I did uninstall (with their app), then reinstall WindowShade - still nothing.

I was just hoping that there was something else I could try that I had not thought about. As I said, it works fine on my older laptop, but not the newer one. Don't understand why.

Ah! The proverbial missing information. Then, reinstall the OS and see if it works, If so, run Software Update to get to 10.6.8. If not, I've nothing else to offer.

WindowShade relies on Rosetta. Will look into this further.

Totally unrelated. The security update included a patch for Lion that caused the issues. Peruse http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5130 and note that the ImageIO fixes only apply to Lion, but apparently were included with the security update. WindowShade X works fine here with the v1.1 update.

As stated in the title, "Rosetta broken in OS 10.6.8 after security update." My issue has been on Snow Leopard.

Unfortunately for these people the latest security update has broken some aspects of Rosetta's functions, which is now causing their PowerPC applications to not work properly."

WindowShade is a Rosetta application. I will give the new "fix" a try and see what happens.

ON My MacBook Pro with 10.6.8, Windowshade works some of the time, which makes it basically worthless. IO have tried a few times to get a response from UnSanity's support, and finally asked for a refund of my money. Absolkutely no responses--what was once a very useful small application seems to have turned into just a spam scheme...
