Put the DVD in the drive and start holding the C key. If it boots you can run disk utility from there and re-format your drive.

Though you know this now, Windows cannot be loaded straight to a Mac, you must use BootCamp.

The HD must be partitioned with GUID partition map and Mac OS extended (journalled) file system. Do not partition the drive into two. When you have a working OS X system, use Boot Camp to create the Windows partition and install Windows.

If you're trying to install Snow Leopard on a Mac that was delivered with Lion installed =

    1. It may not be possible at all depending on the Mac.

    2. If it is possible, it cannot be done with the retail SL disc which is 10.6.3

    3. The only way it can be done is to obtain the original grey discs which would have come with the Mac if it hadn't had Lion installed in the supply chain. They will be at least 10.6.6 and more likely 10.6.7 or .8. You can try to obtain those from Apple Customer Services.
