We had a power failure last night and when I finally restarted my iMac, I found 99% of my Inbox was gone. When I attempted to restore it from Time Machine, I got the following notification:
"Mail" can't be modified or deleted because it's required by Mac OS X.
I have restored it before without this problem. I would appreciate any assistance.

Did you "Enter Time Machine" while in the Mail App?
(Looks like you're trying to restore the Mail App, not the email based on that error message)
Doh! Thanks, that was the problem.
However, I still can't restore my Inbox. I went back to Tuesday, and Time Machine shows 1202 messages in my Inbox. However, when I restore, it's still empty except for anything that comes in after the restore.
Check your Mailboxes Under "ON MY MAC" and look for:

If you see it in Time Machine, you should be able to Restore. Try ⌘A for all the messages, and then click Restore (if you haven't tried this already)
