Q: How do I extend my (wireless) network from my non-apple router/modem using my AEBS?

Ok, let me paint the picture:

I have a wireless modem/router that privides wifi internet to my apartment. It is located at one far end of my apartment, and the signal is not strong enough to reach my bedroom on the other side of my apartment.

The modem/router is an unknown chinese brand device that was provided by my internet/phone provider (China telecom, I'm in Shanghai).

Ideally I would like to use my AEBS to wirelessly extend the wifi network. However, I can understand that this may not be posisble, and that I would have to wire the AEBS to my modem/router to relay the signal.

So effectively I am assuming I will be hard wiring my AEBS to one of the LAN ports on my modem/router.

My question is now, how do I set up my AEBS to relay the internet and wifi network? Assume I start off with the AEBS in default configuration.

If there is a wizard, which steps and options do I select? If it's a manual process, can someone please provide me with step by step instructions?

I found these instructions but I'm not sure they apply to my situation. If they do, could someone pleas epoint out which parts of these instructions I should follow?
