It supports it with the same bugs as Pages. I think it unsuitable for Arabic unless you can make do with copy/paste from another app.

even by copy&paste we will loose the first letter for each word at the beginning, beside the text will look too crowded. If we plan to make any correction in the text, it is impossible. Cursor problem (iBooks Author)
As for Pages, the direction right-to-left is there, i was able to create an Arabic ePub, but i faced issues with creating glossary in Pages. Still experimenting it

As far as I know, Apple's iBookstore still does not accept Arabic books in any case.
i already created an Arabic ePub on Pages and made trials on iBooks Author and tested it on my iBooks on MacbookPro Retina , iPad and iPhone.
if it is not allowed to sell Arabic books on App Store i will build my own selling pages.
there is no frontier for me 🙂

Very useful! Were you able to make the pages turn from left to right (intead of the normal right to left for English books)? I think iBooks cannot do the correct page turning direction and that is one reason they do not yet accept Arabic/Hebrew books.
no i couldn't , for me at leaf for now having the text left aligned is the most important.
Turning the pages from RTL is important meanwhile i am preparing my ePub maybe iBooks will be updated soon for Arabic / Hebrew books
NOOOOOOOOOO
But I used Pages 5.5.2, it is fully supporting Arabic.
