Why cant I download iTunes to my Sony Vaio laptop

Why cant I download iTunes to my Sony Vaio laptop?

I just bought a new Sony Vaio laptop and iTunes will not download.

I keep getting a message saying:

The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occured during configuration. Your system has not been modified. Please run the installer again.

Every time I run the installer I get the same message.

Please help
