Q: Ibook 2 textbooks for private distribution

I was pretty impressed after looking at the free textbook last night that one can download with the latest ibook 2 update. I was wondering about writing company manuals or handbooks using the new ibooks author. I would like to do this so our employees can use the interactive features on the ipad but I don't want to distribute it to anyone but our employees. ie...can we write and then load the file onto the ipads without publishing them to itunes. Or if we do use itunes, are there some type of settings that would allow only people we authorize to download the books?

How do you go about deploying via AirWatch? Does it provide for a simple user experience? Does it show download progress?

I ask because when we tested this method, it required that we push what’s called a “web clip” onto the iPad (i.e. a browser shortcut that looks like an app). The user then needs to click on that link, load a page, click “Install” for the iBook and then wait. There’s no indication of the install progress and it doesn’t tell you that it’s successful. We were able to get it to work on one device, but not another.  And when it did work, it took numerous hours for the book to appear. It's a large file (~700MB) because it is full of video and interactivity, but it does play via the iPad. When we tested via DropBox, it only took 20mins to download over WiFi and play via iBooks, but there's no progress inidicator via that option either as far as we can tell.

    Thoughts? Thank you.
